Tangent
Ken, my appologies for creating a tangent to your thread. You are promoting an idea that I think is detrimental and I did want you to hear the voice of the many who have moved away from PB. I do believe that this game has possibilities that have not been exploited, and I think they should look to fixing the shortfalls rather than making them worse. My posts may be a tangent but it is a very important component for PB to think about. Perhaps its is my bias in that I have no interest in DMB or the Trad game but came here years ago looking for a thoughtful educational sabremetric experience.
Was it you who once posted that you play at least one game of every set? Somebody did, and that is vibrant involvement with a team. For those who want to just draft and watch, there is at least one better, cheaper, more competitive alternative. In my last league, I was competing with one founder who was totally absent and another who was flagrantly sandbagging all year long. I'm not going to pay anything for that experience, much less $100/yr or $400/yr for multiple teams.
I am offering another idea that I think would build value in PB membership rather than strip value. That is full-paid-only leagues. Just put all the free teams in the same leagues-- away from those who want a more competitive experience. (And no, I don't consider sandbagging for two years to be competitive. Just unrealistic. The rookie draft rules would have to change also.)
