Does winning = trying?

Posted By Fred C

While I appreciate the concept in general, I think it assumes that winning equals trying, I'm not sure I agree with that. Since teams do go up and down in talent from year to year, it is certainly conceivable to em that an owner could himself in rebuilding mode for the majority of his teams the same season.

Also, a bonus for winning that is financial is dangerously close to gambling and could push things too far into the realm of competition and disputes - right now I think the leagues are fun but not cut-throat.

Now, if we could modify this to be more along the lines of: how often did the robot have to play games for this team? how often were lineups that had holes or pitchers that couldn't start be selected? how often did the team rely on the default draft lists? how often were trade offers never responded to but left sitting? how often were worn out, injured, or overused players left in the minors? did the rosters expand when able to?

If we could measure actual activity, and basically say - hey owner, are you playing or not - PB can't waste its resources on you - pick it up or pay more or get out of the way.
