Let them die
Some leagues will probably have to be closed. Its a matter of facing reality that the watered-down product is suffering. See Brian B's related post: his premise is that a neglected team is better for PB. That's the opposite of my premise which is that his penchant for letting some teams rest, (he calls it paying less attention and rebuilding, I call it boring and a mild form of sandbagging) cuts to the heart of the leagues. Notabley, he plays only Trad and my suggested hard-core leagues would only be appealing in RT I believe. I think the guys who are really into projections and sabermetrics really prefer RT.
Ultimately, hardcore leagues would attract their own following. I would also allow a league to vote managers out if they are neglecting or sandbagging (although, with the drafts improved the rewards for sandbagging would be greatly dimished). The key point is that guys with many teams do often ignore; even guys who really love the game like Brian B. Those guys must be in separate leagues from the guys who want a competitive experience.
