But Still...Other Solutions Exist
Maybe for RT but the current Launch League? Again, this seems like something that can still be automated. Have the computer automatically move worn out players down. Have the computer move the highest PB value players to the active roster. Have the computer pick the best line-ups and SP and let's keep moving. It's really not rocket science after all.
I know there's been several threads about contraction and other solutions. Maybe PB can appoint a dedicated league manager who can do this job for unmanaged teams. Of course that person should not be an owner in the league he oversees. I know there is a committed group of owners out there from which to chose. I'd rather try something new than have the same problems over and over again, year after year. As it is, we sit and wait and wait some more while we hope a new wave of owners is going to show up.
Leagues with over 50% vacancy should probably be eliminated and give the active owners in those leagues the chance to acquire those unmanaged teams in the leagues left. Some owners who have held teams in those leagues for awhile might not be happy...but how much fun can it be to play in a mostly vacant and unmanaged league? I, for one, play in one of those and it sucks. Seems like that would eliminate many dead leagues, help fill up live leagues with openings and improve overall PB play.
The off-season seems to be the most practical time to do this. Changes and improvements can be made, there just has to be a real willingness to do so.
