Off Season Project Which Can Help Your Team(s) Improve
After looking at some of the recent posts, I thought I would share something that I like to do in the Off Season to hopefully improve my teams.
A few years ago, I was looking for something in the off season to satisfy my longing for this great PB game. I also wanted to do something that would help me improve my existing teams and be more competitive with this great base of baseball knowledge and expertise. I tried making trades and researching future rookie and FA picks as I'm sure alot of you do. Then I bought a baseball sim game called Diamond Mind Baseball (DMB) I would replay seasons in the off season and that was enjoyable. The game has a feature that lets you play an entire 162 (or any other number of games) game season in about a minute with all corresponding reports/stats available for review. Why not adapt this to my Pure Baseball teams, rosters and Home team stadiums and replay the PB season and then review this result with PB actual results. Although actual individual results would differ to some extent the teams that were winning and going to the playoffs were almost always the same! Subsequently, I reasoned that I might possibly use this tool to make changes to my teams in PB (through trades mostly) to hopefully make the playoffs. I would look at players that I felt would help my team(s) and then re-run the season to see the results. After numerous player selections and season re-runs, I would settle on a group of players that the re-runs indicated would help my teams make the playoffs. I would then make trade offers in PB to try to obtain some of those players. Obviously, I was not always successful getting specific players but almost always I could get players (with enough persistence) that proved helpful. It's been enjoyable to use the off season time (and even at times during the season) to see how a player or players could help your team. Please let me say here that this is not a full proof guarantee to get your team to the playoffs, because as I'm sure you are all thinking there are still many other variables. But like I said, I have enjoyed doing this and yes I've had some success doing this. Lastly, I have even had a conversation with Mike about the possible use of the PB game on the Host for all of us to be able to do this if we wanted. His response was that he would look at this idea in the future. Until then, I will continue to use this kind of project to improve my teams so many of you will be seeing trade offers in the near future.
