DWIGHT (TECH) tells me that IE5 is the best browser for use with PB, but I have never upgraded.

If you have problems with a particular browser, it makes sense to try another version, as they are free.

Freeze ups of the browser could be related to a lot of factors. The fact they occur more frequently on PB is probably due to the large amount of DATA tansfer and the complex nature of that data.
