The MLB Scouting Notebook was a joint publication with both STATS and the Sporting News involved. It was very much not a "stat" book but a wonderful written analysis and discussion on players as to their offense, defense, past year and future projections. It was very well written with great analysis. For STATS and SN to drop publication because "there are stats out there all over the web" is very misguided. I guess, bottom line, it didn't make enough money. That, to me, is a little hard to believe since there are so many people out there playing fantasy baseball. But, maybe, very few of that group purchased the book. Now, those of us that depended on the Scouting notebook are left scrambling. I used to only purchase two books for my player analysis...The Scouting Notebook and John Sickels Baseball Rookies and that's all I needed.
