I have a couple of ideas why your trade may have been turned down. Biggio is 40 years old with declining skills. Mike generally is looking for younger guys with steady or improving skills for UNM trades who can help in the future. Second, you put more value in Nady than many others do. He is, at best a lefty bat specialist coming off the bench and emergency OF. He will not start with the Mets, Victor Diaz will. You can easily replace his skill with a late-round FA pick. A third is that C. Young was one of the better pitchers on that Burkesville staff.
In comparing it to my trade in K17, Travis Lee is hardly a bum. Spectacular no, but you can reasonable expect him to have a .270 15HR 75RBI kind of season out of him. His defense is also above-average. And he should get the bulk of playing time in Tampa. Also, UNM teams can often use an early 3rd round Rookie pick and have room for them. Trades are subjective and what makes sense to one person can be mind-boggling to the next. Hope that helps.
