UNM trade system--weigh in here!
I really want a show of hands on this one because I have not had time to look a the board lately and saw this tidbit:
Biggio
Posted By Brian B.
"Last year I offered Biggio to an unmanaged team and Mike rejected it, telling me that Biggio was old and worthless. I then made an offer to acquire Biggio in another league and a day later Mike told me that Biggio was still a very valuable player who wouldn't come cheap.
I realize older guys have more value for some teams than others but I thought this was classic.
The unmanaged trade system doesn't work."
Brian is an accomplished mangager and I certainly respect his competance, but the above statement is not fair given the fact there is no mention of the actual offer for Biggio either way. On the other hand, why be fair on this sort of forum? Many posts do not even provide the identity of the author.
Yes we all know that Biggio is OLD but he can have considerable value to a contender and almost no value to a non contender. I am sure that is what I was saying and is typical of my line of thought on these sorts of players. The attitude I fight is this one:
The UNM team does not need Biggio so why don't you accept next to nothing for him?
Perhaps it would be more elucidating to the conversation to see exactly what offer it was that I turned down Brian?
I know that I make mistakes but I do my best and try to be even handed, but it is hard to make trades with managers who want it only their way.
If that is what the majority of PB managers want in UNM trades I am sure I can not provide it.
I would like to see a full discussion of the UNM trade system as I have conducted it, so that I have a better idea of how the membership feels.
Please weigh in under this post.
