The system is fine, but could be better. Don't discontinue.
The system is fine, but could be better.
First, its much better than no trades at all. Not having UNM trades would be a disaster.
Second, no matter who judges the trades not everyone will be happy. We could have the guys from Baseball America judgeing, and they would make mistakes. Or Peter Gammons(then we would all complain).
I'm not even sure if a committee is better than what we have.
We could set some limitations on the the trades with unmanage teams. A couple that come to mind are no players under 30 and no draft picks can be traded from UNM teams.
I'm fine with tinkering, but no trades would be a mistake.
An example is Kent in C15. He has two years left. Keeping him on an unmanage team keeps them from obtaining younger talent that will be around 5 years down the line.
The unmanage trades must be doing something right as 3-5 unmanaged teams won world series.
