The state of all sims out there or biting the hand that feeds us
The state of all sims out there or biting the hand that feeds.
Besides the many teams I have in PB, I have two Diamond Mind teams out there. They are a lot of fun, and have a few aspects that PB doesn't, namely salaries, contract lengths, etc. I'd say DMB and PB are the two best available.
While the sim numbers are as accurate as PB, the options we have with DMB are not. Making trades, roster changes, setting up the robot, etc. aren't as accessable nor as immediate.
Most importantly you don't play home games like you do here. You don't get results after one game. You don't see the new status of players after one game. You don't have the insurances that people aren't cheating each and every game. Everything isn't available in one nice and neat package.
What I'm saying is this is the best that I've seen out on the market, and I'm always looking. I've been playing forever, and can't imagine a baseball season happening without being involved in PB.
OK, off with the gloves.
There is a fine line to giving opinions and thoughts to changing the game and insinuating that someone is incompetent or unfair to run unmanaged trades.
We all play a game, run by one man. Its a dictatorship if he so chooses. His game, his rules. Thankfully he does ask for advice, he does occasionally make changes. He does give us a message board to question things. When you say unmanaged trades are unfair or inconsistant, it seems that you are either calling Mike a cheater, lazy, incompetent - or something to that effect. Its funny how some of the biggest complainers are the ones that consistantly win their divisions.
I've submitted about 8 unmanaged offers in the last 2 weeks, 6 turned down, 2 accepted. I was able to look at all 6 that were turned down and figure out why. Its really not that difficult. Obviously Mike may make a mistake or do something that we don't all agree with, but when you consider that we may have 250 unmanaged trades go through every year, and that at least twice that many are turned down, even being effective at 95% is still going to result in 35-45 decisions that might not be correct. Doesn't mean you shut the system down, nor do you insult the man making the decisions.
We can make all the suggestions we want, I made two of them(they were no trading guys under 30 and no trading of draft picks for the unmanage team). If a suggestion isn't taken, so what. We are at the same point that we have always been at, 95% works, while 5% doesn't. If you think that 5% is too low, then find me more than 50 unmanaged trades that were bad decisions last year, disregarding hindsight. Good luck.
Ever hear the saying, don't bite the hand that feeds you? Remember that its Mike's hand that feeds us our baseball fix in the form of this sim. I've tasted the other food, its nowhere as good as what we have here.
