Present is worth more?

Posted By EddieL

Tim,

To Clarify, I believe that an immediate help player generally costs more in "futures" than he can produce. Example, If I needed Bret Saberhagen (in Real Time) for my stretch drive, I would expect to give up a good prospect who could be expected to have more long term impact than the one year (or maybe 2) that Sabes can be expected to to help. Likewise, you don't get a Bagwell or Garciaparra for one great unproven prospect. More like two PLUS an everyday player to replace them. So from that standpoint I'm saying present help always costs. And I'm talking Real Time. In trad. leagues you might swap one good year now for one next year, because you know the ratings ahead.

Hope this clears up my meaning. eddie
