Usage limits

Posted By M. Bravard

Brian and others,

If you use a player close to his usage limit you
should pay a price. Not knowing precisely how many games he can play is that price.

As to the formula being off--We know that it is slightly off--but it is off for
all players and on a scale of priorities the problem is very low on our
list--it will eventually be fixed.

There is plenty of documentation as to usage and even with the slight
error in the algorithm, all players are allowed considerably more playing
time than they had in MLB.

PB seeks to add at least some un contollable factors--or at least not completly controllable--to make the SIM "feel" more real. SIM managers---even in our REAL TIME game---have far too much control over the game relative to real life as we all understand. We are working on features such as STREAK stats in Real Time that will add even more uncertainty.

The SIM itself uses a very wide range of statistics to model players extensively. This "super" modeling of players pushes the bounds of sample size far beyond traditional SIMS like APBA and SOM, which use a small statistical set. The result is that you can't "count" on your players to perform ecxactly as you wish over one season. Our accross-league results are very good for the SIM but 160 games is not a significant sample given the wide range of factors used.
