Fried chicken

To the best of my knowledge, fried chicken has never been shown to enhance on the field performance. To the best of my knowledge, fried chicken is thus not tested for in any other sport since it does not give the eater an advantage in terms of on the field performance over those that don't eat it. If you actually have scientific evidence to the contrary, you should publish it so that the anti-doping agencies can properly review it.

Possession of steroids unless prescribed by a doctor has been illegal since around 1990. As far as being against the rules of baseball, you may recall that the Commissioner issued a memorandum to all MLB teams in 1991 indicating that use of illegal drugs was subject to disciplinary action (steroids was specifically mentioned). So it isn't quite accurate to say that it wasn't against the rules of baseball. Of course, the CBA didn't include steroids until 2002, so the union could rightfully claim that they never "recognized" that particular rule. Of course, it doesn't matter whether or not any particular "recognizes" a violation of law since not even a union could claim to be above the law (even if they seem to believe it.).
