I agree with Dave that it is easier to rebuild in Trad than RT. I can pick up a poor team in Trad and usually turn it into a contender in 2-3 seasons. I played only one season in RT and then retired. Because of the way in which the monthly FA drafts are structured you cannot rebuild unless your team is really really bad. You can't go from being a .500 team to 85 wins the next season then to 90 wins the season after that. You almost need to go from last to first "when the time is right". This is just my opinion. I am glad there is a RT for those who enjoy it, it's just not for me.
