Your mention of Koufax and Gibson in the context you use is not germane to the current world of MLB. When they were rookies there were no SIMS leagues, no multitude of publications predicting greatness. Only if you were a follower of their teams would you have suspected. Today's different world allows for evaluation of these guys from draft day right up until the day they set their big toe on the MLB diamond. So, false analogy.

Trad leagues are not so much different from RT. What hurts most Trad teams is not the lack of available quality players in the drafts but injuries to key players that essentially ruin their upcoming season - and they know that right away.

Take a look at the rookies available in the RT drafts right now. There will be more by draft day but right now there are barely 120 players to fill the 5 spots for the 24 teams in each league. Picking an early quality rookie is easier here particularly if their first six weeks is a true indicator. We all know that Liriano, Papelbon, Fielder, Zimmerman will be the top four - we could not have predicted the top four with much certainty in the Trads - except that the King would mostly on top.

Finally, the FA draft will look pitiful for the RT leagues as it always does.
