Final Word - Thank You All!
Well, that’s enough stirring up for one weekend.
The only regret I have (and it’s mentioned in one of the posts) is singling out Mike Douglas. He has enough teams so that to get all games played by Sunday pm would be difficult particularly if he has weekend plans – but see below.
The negative respondents to the original post do not seem to understand the nature of the problem and my backhanded approach at trying to light a fire to get it fixed. If Mike Bravard is following this (or better if John Meredith is) then one of them will weigh in and maybe the real problem will be fixed.
What is the real problem? The HOME TEAM ROBOT MANAGER, that’s the real problem. Mike Douglas and others have mentioned below that they don’t mind and in many cases like better having the robot play their home games. That’s the crux of the problem here. These games would be played in a timely fashion if this option were “fixed”. I agree with another post that it was initiated and possibly worked for one week and never has worked again.
If any of this gets Mike to exhort John into fixing this option then all of this was worth it. Yes, there are other ways to go about this – namely the direct approach – email Mike or email John (by the way anyone still have his email address?). This approach might work but one email from one manager probably won’t do much. A stir like you see in the below posts may get some action and maybe not. It was worth the try.
There was no response (in my response to KenG) to my assertion that one of the improvements that Mike Bravard alluded to back in January might be the playing of un-managed team games in a timely manner. And by the way, the original post on Monday morning would never have occurred if in another post it was not mentioned that these games had all been played – I had not noticed that. That’s what triggered my post. If I am correct in my assumption that this is one of the improvements that PB had planned then PB has a belief somewhere that getting games played in a timely manner helps the game. Also, my post was never meant to imply that some managers can’t have the luxury of taking their time and playing slowly and finishing on Monday. I know the rules as well as anyone else does. This is a quality of the game issue. If all managers waited, the game would fall apart pretty quickly. I repeat one last time – let’s concentrate our efforts on Mike and John to get the HOME TEAM ROBOT MANAGER fixed as soon as possible.
Several observations over this:
1. Anonymous posts don’t hurt (if they are not malicious) and often help.
2. Mike Douglas isn’t going anywhere and would probably agree about the home team robot manager. He didn’t like seeing his name and I don’t blame him.
3. Ken G gave a very nice response to my reply to him. Ken, though, has to realize that he is not the spokesman or savior of purebaseball. His remarks are always appreciated and often he is right on the money but not always.
4. It’s now up to Mike and John to agree or disagree that the home team robot manager not working is a problem that deserves to be addressed – and fixed.
Goodbye for now my friends until we meet again – actually I will be meeting with several of you this weekend.
