Have to be Careful of Time Zones
Happy to see a reasonable discussion addressing getting games completed by the real deadline. One concern is time zones, midnight here on the Left Coast (a reasonable time for me to play games) is 3 AM in the East. I wouldn't want to have to be finished by 9 PM local to hit a midnight Eastern deadline. While those of us who work days consider the wee hours of the morning 'wasted' I'm sure we have some managers working second shift and those hours are prime time for them. However, that is a detail and can be worked out. Maybe something like 7 AM CDT on Tuesday morning.
I really like the idea of all single round drafts. Rookie and FA drafts would only take 13 days of drafting, put some time in for trades and the whole process will cover 3 weeks. Doing those drafts in February would have us starting play sometime in March.
Again, thank you for starting a real discussion. I've posted more in the last three days than I have the last three years. This game is too good to tear apart and we need to balance between the gm's and field managers.
