Let's bring those inconvenient facts into play.

1) The trade was Varitek and Miller for Kendall and the number one rookie pick of the third worst team in 99T2. If Pete would like to argue that Varitek-Kendall was even up at that point in time then I'd love to hear that analysis. Varitek had an OBP of .390 versus Kendall's .399 but his .482 slugging topped Kendall by 92 points.

2) I had no way of knowing that that pick would be the number one pick in the rookie draft. It was the third worst record. I got lucky.

3) I didn't initiate this trade. It was a managed team, with a big Red Sox fan managing it who kept inquiring about Varitek. He was offering Kendall and something else but the problem was I hated Kendall. (I still do) He kept offering and finally we had a deal. Wade Miller was signed by the Red Sox that offseason so he wound up getting thrown in too.

So the reality is different from the original contention. Why the deception Pete ? What in the world was/is your point?
