Injury Occurrences and the playoffs

Posted By Jon

I have a question about injuries and perp. league playoffs. If a player (J.Smoltz in my case) does not use all of his injury occurrences during the course of the regular season, are those injury occurrences available during the playoffs? In '98, Smoltz had 2 occurrences for a total of 37 days on the DL. But on my team in PB99 Trad 2, Smoltz has gone down only 1 time for 8 days....and I've played 115 games already.
I know that the game manual says that injury status and BFA carries over into the playoffs, but I take that as meaning this: If a player is already injured while entering the post season, the number of days he needs to be fully recovered will be carried over into the playoffs. What the rules don't mention, is a case like mine (and probably many others). If a player "could" get injured another time during the regular season, will that possibility still remain in the playoffs? If so, Smoltz could have a 15 day injury in game 1 of the first round and I wouldn't get to use him until the league championship (if the team made it that far w/o him). Also, to go along with this question... Does a player always get injured the exact number of times he did in the corresponding ML season (not days, but occurrences)? Or, is the player susceptible to a long-term injury UP TO the same number of times as in the real MLB season?

Thanks,
