RAMBEAST:
This statement, " If a team starts a relief pitcher, they expect him to go more than his usual 1, 2, or 3 innings, but then he also becomes unavailable for the next 3-4 days..." is incorrect.
The game does not make a recently used relief pitcher (who started) unavailable for the next 3-4 days. That is where the game is seriously messed up. In fact, most relievers who are used as starters are available to pitch the very next day w/o any rest!
I have first hand knowledge of this fact as I use V.Nunez as a starter on a regular basis in my PB2K LL1 league. I like to start him in game 1 of a series and have him available as a reliever for games 2-5 as well.
This has been discussed, at length, in the past (see T.Mulholland discussions) but I can't recall anyone having a clear answer to why there isn't a huge BFA drop for the next game.
