Revenues

Posted By David V

Although I have only been playing this game for two (full) years now, and only in one league at that, I am not too concerned with teams that tank; I don't think they upset the balance too much. Some of the draft picks I've seen taken early just make me scratch my head (and in my first year, boy! did I ever make a boneheaded pick fifth overall!!). Even so, I picked eleventh overall this year and although I didn't get JD Drew or Kerry Wood I'm still happy with the pick I got despite his lousy last year (Matt Anderson). Yet it shows you just how hard it is to cash in that early pick. Simply picking a good rookie isn't as easy as it looks and if someone wants to go through the effort of losing so that they might finally pick the rookie who pans out then good luck! I'm not worried. I like winning and I don't mind picking in the bottom half of draft rounds and if someone wants to lose against me, go ahead. It's your ten bucks a month.

But please, no revenues! I want to keep the players whom I think are worth it for their entire careers and I don't want to be told I can only afford two superstars on my team, despite the fact I might have watched five develop over the course of a decade.

I realize that the 120 point rule in twenty team leagues is a bit of a ceiling, but you still have the option of dropping a 4 point pitcher rather than be told you can't afford two thirty million dollar players like Ken Griffey and Alex Rodriguez.
