You are still looking at it from a "hitting" perspective

You are still looking at it from a hitting perspective.

Yes, what you say has merit, but by the same token the major league hitter will face pitchers that simply will not appear in our league.

If it is truly a 50-50 split hitting versus pitching, then there should be no increase in offense.

Hitters should suffer a bit in their hitting BECAUSE they are facing better pitching in general.

For some reason, everyone seems to think that it is the pitchers who should suffer WHOLEY and that the hitting should not suffer at all. Why is it that everyone expects all the hitters to bat their batting average or higher, while pitchers are to expect inflated ERAs and hits per nine? This is wrong. There is no reason why the hitters shouldn't suffer at the hands of better rotations.

(Does anyone see what I'm trying to get at with this?)

Why? We all have better pitching staffs than the 30 team league, so why shouldn't hitter suffer, after all, they aren't going to face a majority of scrubs.

Even with the 20-20 vision of "platooning" the 50-50 rule should minimize that impact. Add to that the fact that as Sim managers we are more likely to pull a decent pitcher to place someone into the lineup who is brutal on one side to pitch to just one player.

I can agree with a small increase in offense (due to platoon and the miss-use of certain limited players), but 15% seems a little large.
