Launch Leage 5
I also have a team in that launch league (but in the senior league).
Yes, he was available for draft, but he only pitched 1 inning last year. He gave up only a walk.
If he had pitched maybe 3-4 innings for you before going down with a season ending injury, everything would have been fine... but you had him pitch 17 innings! And those innings were FLAWLESS. Sure, he gave up 14 walks (I believe) in those 17 innings, but he also didn't give up a run or a hit.
Granted, it is not wholey your fault, as the game engine should have seen this pitcher as totally overused and therefor killed the guy, but by the same token, it takes the fun out of a league when people abuse such limited players.
Let's say I draft Joe Schmoe... he hit 1.000 (2 for 2) with a double versus righties, and a homer versus lefties.
I then make him my regular DH and after 15 games he leads the league in hitting (.786) and has 24 doubles and 36 homers?
Wouldn't you feel like I'm taking advantage of the situation? Wouldn't you like to see the player removed?
I, for one, agree with the commisioner's move to remove that player from your roster. He only pitched one inning last year, out of 162 possible games. Consider yourself very lucky you received 17 scoreless innings from him in only a 50 game schedule.
