Realism?
Was it "realistic" for Jay Bell to hit 38 HR's, Clemens to post a 4.60 ERA, Luis Gonzalez to OPS .952 over a full season, or Bottenfield to win 18 games? Well, those things happened in MLB in 1999.
I just "suffered" through a Launch League season in which Pedro posted an un-Pedro-like 3.95 ERA for the season, AND Juan Gonzalez had an OBP of about .320! Of course, Benson came in with a 3.50 ERA and Tony Clark hit lefties like he NEVER does, too.
There's a LOT of randomness even in a 162-game schedule; I bet if you check your stats closely you'll find as many good surprises as bad. Stop thinking you're "supposed" to win and enjoy the competition!
