Pitching, Simming
After having played hundreds of PB games I am convinced there is no such thing as 'bad' or 'good' days (statistically, this is known as 'independence', where the current event is unrelated to prior events - much like drawing lottery numbers or playing roulette), and have managed accordingly. (Quite successfully, I might add, having won 2 LL's and the RT2 Championship this year).
The only figure that matters, in my view, is the pitcher's average against the type of batter he is facing (i.e., leftie or rightie). This also is quite important for away games. For example, in mone of my current LL teams I have Randy Johnson. He always goes out as an 'Ace Rotation' PLUS a 'Conservative' in the Bullpen setting. This assures he pitches nearly every game to completion - the last thing I want is the Robot pulling him after 6 innings and 4 or 5 runs for a lesser-quality reliever.
The Away settings become even more interesting when you are working with mid-level starters (PB ratings 4.5-6.5). Without giving away all my secrets, I have found by experimenting with Bullpen settings in LL's what I think to be a good balance between the Ratings and the aggressiveness of the Pen. This is obviously also related to to your relievers' capabilities and how much you want to use them.
This is just another reason why this is truly a game of skill as well as luck.
