The opposition
It's a good question. Does a PB pitcher have a bad day or is it purely mathematical? A stud pitcher can't pitch perfect all the time, but I've always felt there is a reason, not just luck. If an ace is getting rocked it's probably because of the statistical matchup. When one of my aces gets clobbered early I stop and take a good look at the opposition. More often than not it's a stats matchup that can explain it. Time to pull him and have him fresh for another day.
I also agree with B.R. Too many managers blame the robot for losses but it's the understanding of how the robot works that can give you an advantage. More often than not it's the robot settings that can explain a loss, or a win.
There's luck involved in the game, just not as much as people think.
