Tired of anonymous posters

Posted By Jon

While I normally make it a practice to NOT respond to posts made anonymously, this particular discussion involved my league so I thought I would respond. I'm really tired of the anonymous posters on this board, have some balls and say what you want to say and put your name to it.

In the league in question here, PB99 Trad2, I own 3B Greg Norton. Norton, by no means, is an all-star caliber player or even a stud of the future. What he did do is have the best season of his career in '99 and put up some very respectable numbers at the plate. He had an OPS vs RHP of 0.828 with over 500 PA. This, I feel, has some value since finding a 3B with that many PA's and that high of a ROPS isn't that easy (especially in a FA or RK draft). Early in the season, I made a trade for Ventura so I no longer need Norton. I simply posted on our league trade board that he was available to the highest bidder. Like any good GM, I have pointed out his assests (good ROPS w/ high PA). What I have NOT done is asked for a lottery pick, or even a 1st rounder as somone else in our league did for Damon and Stottlemyre. I DID make a VAGUE request in what I wanted in return...

In my BB post I referred to a wanting a "high" pick or upgrade, or a prospect...take that however you mean. To me, it means that I don't want a low 3rd-5th round rookie pick or a very low FA upgrade. For the record, I did NOT mention that I wanted a lottery pick or even a 1st or 2nd rounder for that matter. I did not rule that out though, if someone was willing to give it (seriously doubt it). I don't think this was wrong and or out of the question. I would venture to guess that most ownvers would agree with me. I'm not asking the world for my player and I sent out ZERO unsolicited trade offers. My question to the owner who posted here is this: how does anyone making making a post on our TRADE board "scare" you or make you upset enough to discuss it here? If you don't like Norton or you feel that he's the worst 3B sense Ron Cey, then ignore my post and don't bother to make me an offer. If you think Damon and Stottlemyre are collectively worth a 5th round rookie pick, that is your business...keep it to yourself. Who are you to decide what I or any other owner should ask for their players? I know that you did not specifically point out Norton or Damon or Stottlemyre, but it is pretty obvious as to where you were directing your comments. Maybe there's a team in our league with a prospect at 3B (like A.Ramirez) and they need a 1yr starter for this season to get them to the playoffs. Maybe Norton would be a perfect fit for that team in '99 and they'd be willing to part with a fairly high pick. Anyway, I'm done ranting, I just wanted to defend my post about Norton on our bulletin board and point out that I was NOT asking for a lottery pick or stud starters like the other guy.
