Draft Day Heartburn
So... here I was - 5 draft picks in hand ready for my first every rookie draft.
Only - I made a rookie mistake.
I built my draft list by dumping players I liked into the queue. i did this over a few days, and on Saturday I re-ordered my list to the way I wanted them to be.
Or so I thought.
As it turns out, the re-order did not take on the PB server. I should have confirmed that the re-order took place. Why didn't I go back in a check?
When I saw the results of the frist round (sitting at work) I was perplexed, and then extremely concerned. Upon arriving home, I learned what had happened, and felt awful. I checked an old printout and saw that I had drafted my first 5 unordered picks (thank the HEAVENS I atleast had Billy Koch and Vernon Wells as the top 2 picks).
It turns out that IF I had checked my list, I could have had 5 players from my top 7 choices. Instead, three of the players I took resided 14th pick or lower (possible 3rd rounders).
**sigh**
I talked about it with one of the other owners in our league, and it occured once to him as well so I don't feel all that bad, and to be honest, the players I received aren't awful either (infact, Koch and Wells were high on my list anyway) but I could have had three others (who are STILL available) that I really wanted. I hope they make it to the third round where I have 4 picks, but I doubt it.
So I'd like to remind everyone to check your draft lists after a submit.
It was a rookie mistake by myself I know, but man... what a hard lesson to learn.
