Abolishing the 35 man limit after the FA draft?

Posted By Jon

This rule change is supposed to be up for discussion and I don't see much of it going on....so here goes. This rule change would be fine with me. It is pretty much the case already, and this would just make the change official. I had more than 35 players for most of my season last year and it was never a problem because the never check that limit...just the 25 man active roster limit on Thursday morning. This would basically allow for an unlimited team size, and the only time that team size would be enforced is the day after the rookie draft where we cut to 27 players. After those cuts, we draft 8 new free agent players and you would be able to trade for as many players as you like. The ONLY potential problem I could see happening is if a manager morgaged his future and traded a bunch of picks for extra players during the playoffs. I would hate to face a bunch of high grade/low IP starters during the postseason, especially if the other manager traded for about 10 of them. Instead of eliminating the 35 man roster limit, maybe we should just increase the limit during season play? For instance, a 40 man limit? Obviously, this limit would not come into play for most teams in most leagues.....only for the teams that end up doing many odd man trades and end up with extra players.
