Go read the thread that I started below. If we abolish the 35 man rule and do not have a hard cap (like the 40 I suggested) then there could be huge problems. You say, so what if a team wants to trade for 60 players even though they have to cut to 27 after the rookie draft? Well, have you ever lost a playoff game to a guy that pitched 20 innings with a 9 grade? Or how about having your ace pitcher get lit up from a player with 50 PA that had a 1.500 OPS? This is the problem that not having a hard cap could bring. A go-for-broke owner could trade for every 1-yr type of player in the league and field a team of low IP/PA type players to use as regulars in key games. This is supposed to be a "simulation" league and having a pool of 60 players to use at your disposal isn't actually realistic. MLB uses a 25 man limit + the DL list. They also have a AAA team to send players to and call up talent....but they don't do at the expensive of their regulars. The point is, getting rid of the 35 man rule is a great idea, but we still need a hard cap to prevent owners from ruining their team's future and to protect the integrity of the simulation.
