I agree that a 40 man roster limit would work well. That would allow the trades in question to go through ok, but with a waiver list based on current record (at the time/week of the attempt to exceed 40 players occurs)...then other teams could essentially claim the 41st player, etc., if they so wanted. Obviously, if the 41st player is worthless, then he'd be unlikely to be picked up by other teams. I think that would be the best combination of both worlds...expand the potential rosters, yet have a check and balance on roster size potentially exceeding 40 players.
