Jason Varitek was charged with 25 Passed Balls in 140 games last year. So far, he's got 17 in 34 games, on pace for 68 PB's in 136 games. All this without catching Tim Wakefield who, while I don't have the numbers, was on the mound for the large majority of Variteks PB's last year according to Gammons. Gammons can be full of it, but with the knuckler not that hard to believe.

Anyway, as with my last post about Matt Stairs, my real point is that the sim seems to be getting worse, not better as you'd hope. I'm not in the camp of those waiting for a better sim to come along.I've invested a lot of time and energy into my teams in PB (yeah I know, it's hard to tell) and I don't want another, great sim game to come along. I want PB to the next great game but it's getting harder and harder to believe we're making progress. The game play is just getting stranger and stranger each year, the glitches more numerous etc..
What can we do to make PB better right now, not in 10 years ? Keeping the faith going and our mouths shut doesn't seem to be working. Any ideas ?
