The Game
In response to Mike's post on the organizational bullentin boards, I would like to throw my two cents (and full support) behind PB and its staff. I am not in the computer industry, so have no real insight into the nuances of running an internet site. However, given the number of teams/leagues and the overall quality of the site, I suspect the Mike and Co. put a lot of long hours into this endeavor. And, they still take the time to answer email personally. I have no delusions into thinking this is the "perfect sim." It is far from it. But I also know that the PB staff is aware of the short comings, and in time will address the issues. It isn't going to happen overnight.
Constructive criticism is good. It is what makes the game better. Whining and spreading false rumors and personal attacks aren't. It only undermines the game. This is a hobby for most of us (including Mike). Granted we have to pay for this game, but $10/month per team seems more then reasonable to me for the amount of fun I get out of participating in the leagues. I have met some interesting/cool people while playing. It is well worth my time and money.
Finally, I think Mike's discussion on the commish and trade approvals is right on. He should continue to maintain veto rights. Every league needs someone to do this. He should however, step down in leagues he is an owner in. I didn't much like it when Selig was acting commish and still owned the Brewers. It is a conflict of interest. Appointing someone who isn't in the league would be a great compromise/idea.
So, that is enough of point of view (probably more then two cents, really). I think the game has many flaws, but has great potential. I think the PB staff should be commended not trashed. They do a good job and try to keep the game fun and fair for all of us. Thanks for listening.
