Steals

Posted By Eric

I was bored so I did a little analysis of your season so far. Below is a week-by-week chart of who was catching against you and how you did against them. In parenthesis is the catcher's current arm rating.

Wk1 - Javy Lopez (0.6) 6 steals/5 caught stealing
Wk2 - Dan Wilson (7.1) 5/6
Wk3 - Mitch Meluskey (0.2) 7/0
Wk4 - Charles Johnson (3) 4/2
Wk5 - Eddie Taubensee (1.4) 5/2
Einar Diaz (3) 4/4
Wk6 - Jorge Posada (7) 7/4
Wk7 - Brad Ausmus (9) 3/6
Wk8 - Mitch Meluskey (0.2) 3/0
Darren Fletcher (3) 0/1
Wk9 - Henry Blanco (9.9) 0/2
Wiki Gonzalez (6.1) 1/1

A few things to consider are the fact that the current arm ratings may have changed quite a bit since the beginning of the season. That may explain the performance of Lopez and Wilson in the first two weeks. Another thing that effects steals is the pitchers you are facing. This is almost as important as the catcher though I didn't take the time to check how your opponents' pitchers hold runners (I'm not that bored).

Overall it looks like your performance is fairly consistant with what you should expect. Guys like Blanco and Ausmus will hold anyone's running game in check. The middle guys (3-7) will see mixed results and will depend somewhat on the pitchers. Guys like Mitch Melusky? If someone starts one of them against you, you should run like crazy. Do a little more research on your upcoming opponents and adjust your running game accordingly and you should see your steal % rise.

You may already know this and it may not be of help, but it did help me waste an hour. :o)
