Tim's right, as far as I know. I had Ripken and Kendall both becoming available midway in a series, and I was lucky enough to have have created one lineup that had them in it (in fact, the only saved lineup I had).
My advice then is that if you have guys you anticipate being injured, before the season, activate them and save a lineup with them in it.
