The facts say that Sele HAD to be READY....
I responded only after looking at the facts that are on the league & roster pages. After looking at those facts, I thought the occurance was, at least, odd. I thought the author's heading would probably fail to get a glimpse by yourself or Dwight, so I merely suggested that someone look at it.
Sele had pitched the previous Game 5, facing 34 batters. His recovery is 9, so by game 5 of the following series, he should have recovered 36 points.
The previous series was an away game, controlled by the robot. The robot, by rule, will pitch the pitcher no longer than it will take, at his recovery rate, to pitch the next game in the rotation. In a 4-man rotation, that would mean to a BFA of no less than 3, in a 5-man rotation, that would mean to no less than -6.
Even if he had started the previous game 5 at a BFA of 30, those 34 batters he faced would only put him to -4. so 4 days of rest (-4+9+9+9+9) would put him at no worse than 32 BFA coming into the game in question.
Now, there are obvious scenarios that would still allow for Sele to not have pitched. One I mentioned in my post, that the manager had mistakenly put Quantrill as "Rotation". Another is that he changed Sele to something other than starter.
I merely think that it is strange because the manager stated that he had not set his lineups from the previous week. If this is indeed true, then EVEN IF Quantrill is set as "rotation", Sele would, by robot rules, have been chosen the starter.
Mathematically, after facing 34 batters in the previous game 5, there is NO WAY that Sele was not READY.
That is, unless his previous recovery rate was 8, and that had just changed this week.....
