Chris said he had just acquired this pitcher which is why he didn't have him set as rotation. Perhaps to the robot program this "new" pitcher was treated as a first start. Perhaps the bug is not fixed...or at least not fixed for players acquired in a trade and making there first start for a new team.

Is this a possibility?
