Skewed combinations?

I liked your comment:

Interestingly in a trade negotiation it was suggested to me that we each trade players to the other who are underperfoming. My trade partner said that it was his experience that someone performing poorly was often rejuvenated when traded to another team. He said it was his strategy to trade underperfoming stars of his for underperforming stars of someone else. At the time, I thought he was haggling to convince me to trade with him. Now that I've had a little more experience with the game, I think perhaps he was correct but I couldn't figure out an explanation. Perhaps as you suggest the games algorithms get convoluted enough that certain player/park combinations just don't work well. It sure seems to me that certain pitcher/batter combinations consistently give the same results also on a more "micro" level.

Of course, it could just be conincidence too. Maybe that's part of the fun...you never really know.

Anyway, thanks for your insightful comment.
