Lucky Nineteen
Just wanted to post this because it's the kind of thing that really makes this game facinating. I think that my news copy should explain. You can use the link to take a look.
LUNENBURG (BBW) October 30, 2000 –- The hottest team in the league this month has undoubtedly been the Lunenburg Bluenoses. For the last five weeks the team has a record of 22-3. Seventeen of those victories have been tallied on the road. Angus Walters and his squad have has sported a stellar home record for most of the season but curiously struggled to stay above .500 on the road prior to this month. In the final tilt of this week’s series with Sugarland, the Blues triumphed in an incredible nineteen inning marathon. The rock-solid Bluenose bullpen held the Canes scoreless for twelve full innings after starter Al Leiter left the game tied at two. Coincidentally the win also runs Lunenburg’s current winning streak up to nineteen games. With only seven weeks remaining in the regular season and a seven game lead on the closest wildcard contender, only a severe meltdown could derail their playoff hopes.
