I totally agree with you. On average, with a huge sample size, non-rated catchers will absolutely suck. However, you can't say that they will NEVER throw out a baserunner.

Just look at my example earlier in this thread, as well as Tim's. We have each played the same team, using outfielder's behind the plate. The team suffered in both cases. I think Doug's above example, with Deshields throwing out runners, is just a case of very small sample size.
