Since we are all sharing...
...our beefs with defense, this is what bugs me:
Travis Lee as RF - ODR 5.5/Rg 7.0/Arm 3.5/FPct 5.5/Games Played at RF 54
Travis Lee as LF - ODR 2.6/Rg 0.8/Arm 5.0/FPct 4.0/Games Played at LF 10
Let's imagine if Travis did not play LF in the majors this year. If I chose to play him at left anyway his ratings would be (after making the adjustments listed in the game manual):
Travis Lee as LF - ODR 5.0/Rg 6.3/Arm 3.1/FPct 5.0
Looks to me like Travis is being punished because he actually played a few games in left and being given a rating based on a small sample size (had to throw that in for you sample-size buffs :o)
I can take an average-fielding infielder, say 2B Jeff Kent, throw him into left field and produce better ratings than the game gives Travis.
Jeff Kent as LF - ODR 4.9/Rg 3.7/Arm 5.6/FPct 4.0
Personally I don't have a beef with the game allowing us to play players out of position (excepting catcher - which has been noted below is too different from any other position). I like having the same freedom as any real manager to tell Jeff Kent to do his best in the outfield when the team needs him to. He should take a hit in his ratings but he should be able to catch the easier flyballs and have a basic knowledge of where to throw the ball. What I don't like is that I don't have that same freedom with players like Travis because he barely played enough games to get a rating at a position.
