Good idea
I like the idea, as long as it is for starting pitchers only. Many effective relievers have less than 50IP so that would not be very practical. I used Pote and Mecir to help me win a championship. Both had less than 30IP in '99 but I acquired them with the specific purpose of saving close games in the playoffs. Since each guy could only pitch a total of ~6 innings, I had to use them a key situations. Additionally, I was able to pull them with only 1/3 IP remaining on usage and then I got a full 12 batters faced from each of their last appearances.
In the 3 rounds, I got 13.3IP out of these two, notching 2 wins, 3 saves and just 1 earned run. Needless to say, by controlling their usage and swapping them out between series, I turned two low usage RP into a one studly RP.
I think the current limit of 10IP is a good idea for the relievers who did not start. But for the starter with 10IP who should really only be allowed to pitch 2 innings.........he could start one game, go 7-8 innings and make an impact in the postseason. Maybe it SHOULD be increased to 50IP for starters, or make them have at least 5 starts in real life to qualify.
