Not going to happen

Having everyone perform within 10% of their real life stats is not only impossible, but would be very boring.

A few points:

-we have only 20 or 24 team based leagues, MLB has 30. Our teams are much better than real life teams because of the deeper talent pool

-platoons. This has already been pointed out. We can platoon players that normally don't, thus making their "sim" stats far better than real life stats.

-park effets. Most players on our teams are not playing in their real life MLB park. That fact right there will ensure that their PB sim stats will not be close to real life.

-different lineups and rotations. Going back to an earlier point with a deeper talent pool....hitters are going to be facing MUCH tougher pitching. Good managers can use a 4 man rotation all season if they have four decent starters. That would never happen in real life and our "sim" hitters are not going to bat the same against them as they would when they face 5 man rotations in real life and a bunch of guys who should be in AAA. We use players at different positions in the lineup, someone that normally bats cleanup who now bats 2nd on your sim team, is not going to have the same RBI and runs scored as they did in real life.

In short, the only way to get stats to resemble their real life counterparts is to have a 30 team league and have real-life rosters. Even then, small sample size and quirks in the sim will cause differences in real life stats and sim stats. Purebaseball is not a "replay" sim and I hope it doesn't stive to be. If I want to watch a replay, I'll turn on ESPN Classic.
