Other Games

I have played APBA for (gulp) 40 years now. Dropped out of my last league 2 years ago, and have just rejoined. Main reason: the camaraderie. 20 of 24 managers will be meeting at the commish's house in PA, for playoffs and drafts, next month.

The APBA game itself was not designed originally with the computer in mind. It's a dice game adapted for the computer. Lots of quirks. If they start an online version with the basic game, it will be laughable.

Another BIG difference with Purebaseball, is Real Time. Sure, there's bugs to be ironed out, bit noplace else will you find yourself playing with current players.

Diamond Mind grew out of Pursue the Pennant. I haven't played it but I liked PTP very much. As far as I know, there's no real time leagues, and I'm not sure if there are any "true" computer leagues like her at PB, where you can point and click on everything and the robot can do so much. I believe there are many similarities between DM and PB.

If the PB staff can correct a few bugs, interface stats so that all players' stats can be seen, and impliment an equalization process so the fast starting players don't have unfair advantage, and ~maybe~ get online playoffs eventually, this game can be in a class by itself.

That's my take on things.
