On the face it doesn't look so bad. But if you look at both teams you will see this is:
Gonzalez and 5 cuts for Burks, FA2, RK2 (the #1 slot of course). How many of us wish we could trade 5 cuts for a RK2 and FA2?
How may times do you see a trade involving 10+ things? I know it isn't that rare, but in this thread the frequency and player combinations it certainly is curious. And of course, as pointed out before (Nomo, Gonzalez, Alomar), we have a player (DeFelice)just acquired YESTERDAY being traded right back to the same team. Admittedly he has limited value, but again curious...
4 days before cuts Cleveland now has 39 players. Despite knowing they had the #1 pick in the draft since, what, mid Feb Cleveland never submitted a draft list. As of 2pm yesterday still no draft list. I guess you could argue they knew all along they were going to trade the picks? I wonder what kind of offers they could have received if they had posted the intention to trade.
As for those of you who are responding "oh well- that's the game sometimes" -- I would encourage you to take more time to imagine this happening to your team, a team you originally drafted and spent thousands of hours nurturing along agonizing over trades that hurt as much as they helped- your closest rival in your division making 10+ player trades with the same team raising PB value from mid 70 to 120+ and record from 59-101 to 115-45 in 2 yrs while the other owners abandon the teams and "disappear" (PB values 75 and 62) . Think about it. And better yet- what can/should we do so it doesn't happen again? Assuming that nothing can be done about this current "curiosity"...
