Thank you Doug

Doug,

Its nice to speak with a reasonable individual with reasonable logic. As I look at that trade and your circumstance I probably would not take it either -- but as I was saying it wasn't totally ludicrous depending on how a person evaluates players.

My thinking is that I receive a lot of crazy offers in my many leagues and (I'm sad to admit) that sometimes the offers make me so angry that I start pounding my desk and/or make a similarly lopsided counter offer. However, I try to avoid making public statements about individual offers. The reason of course is that I don't want someone bashing me when they don't like my offer. Someone gave me Shawn Green for Mike Stanley and Bob Wickman a couple years back. Should I be ashamed that he was willing to do that? I don't think so, and I would not have been pleased to see my name in lights as a "shark-like trader" if he had not liked the trade.

Well anyway by now I think I have definately made my point and I'm just being redundant. Just helping to explain my thinking. My pet peave is tanking or collusion and I'll jump all over people that appear to be doing that if I think I have evidence.

On a side note there are definately some people that only make offers that are lopsided in their favor. I have identified a few of those guys over the years and unless I really want a specific player badly I avoid them. There are a few other owners that I deal with often because they are reasonable. Sometimes I end up getting the short end when you look at the trade a year later and sometimes they do. The point is we both are willing to take reasonable risk instead of shafting the other guy every single time and so we are able to find mutually acceptable deals.

Ok.... well I see that I am now drifting way off the subject so I will stop.

Good luck to all this year.
