Miller
Tim,
With all due respect, I couldn't disagree more with your post. First, your complaint about Miller has to do with the league where he has a total of 23 innings pitched. If you know statistics as you say you do, you can't seriously be suggesting that his performance for any given 23 innings stretch should mirror his performance over 200 innings or 2000 innings. In fact, just look at real life performances. Many pitchers will have a 2.00 ERA in April, a 5.50 ERA in May, a 3.00 in June and so forth. Each months statistics taken alone are not a large enough sample to work with. You would seem to want Miller to give up his exact real life ERA each and every 9 inning stretch he pitches during the season.
Personally I like a system where a player's simulation performance will ROUGHLY mirror his real life performance MOST of the time. I certainly wouldn't want a system where I knew in advance that each and every player I have will perform EXACTLY as he did in real life. How boring!
There are certainly more improvements that can be made in the future and hopefully they will be. But I have played pretty much all the baseball simulations in existence the last 30 years or so and I have never found one that does what you seem to want them to do.
Take care.
