Question about perpetual leagues

Posted By Sandrel Yeras

Greetings all,

I am in a Launch League that begins drafting tomorrow. I hope to join a perpetual league at the conclusion of my Launch League. My question is this, if you join a standard league, using last year's stats, and complete a season, at the start of the next season, are your players going to be adjusted with the previous year's real life stats, or the player's performance in Purebaseball?

My reason for asking is this...say you draft a player with a lot of potential, as demonstrated by their stats from last year and every scouting report you have read. Naturally, they have a great season in your perpetual league, but in the current real life season, the player makes a turn for the worst (e.g. Rick Ankiel) for unexplained reasons. Now you are stuck with a player that is of no value to any other team, and you will have no choice but to drop them (let's face it, it's not like you have a farm system to help the player get back on track, and roster spots are limited). You made a great selection last year, and you get penalized for real life situations. In my opinion, this is a fictional world our teams live in, and it should be played as such. One year of stats is enough to form a foundation, but from then on, players should be updated solely on their Purebaseball stats.
