One more thing about pitchers
Pitchers are very flaky and injury prone. So I am much more likely to trust a superstar hitter to be consistent from one year to another than a superstar pitcher.
P.J., Maddux, and Brown are the exception to the rule -- but otherwise pitchers are a crapshoot.
suppose you stocked up last year on Kris Benson, Rick Ankiel, Mike Sirotka, and Scott Williamson. You woudl have invested a pretty penny and you would be a little disappointed right now.
Star hitters also get hurt from time to time but not as frequently as pitchers. This is why in most cases I'll prefer the star hitter to the star pitcher. ..... in the long run your investment is safer.
